Contact
. Include your MacPutty version, macOS version and a description of the problem. Remove hostnames, usernames and other confidential details from screenshots before sending them. Never send passwords or private keys.
Connect
Choose Session, enter the host, port and SSH username. Under Connection → SSH → Authentication, select your private key using Browse. PuTTY PPK v2/v3 keys use the included Plink tool. Confirm a server fingerprint only after checking it with the server administrator.
Server refused our key
Check that the SSH username is the remote account that has the matching public key installed. A valid key for one account does not give access to another. MacPutty cannot grant server permissions.
Appearance
Use Window → Appearance or Colours to choose a font and terminal colours. DejaVu Sans Mono is included. Lucida Console is selectable if installed on your Mac. Interface Language and Theme are at the top of Configuration.
App Sandbox
The App Store edition accesses selected files through macOS permission dialogs. If a key moves, choose it again. Import SSH config by choosing your SSH folder; includes and keys outside that folder may need separate access. Local shell commands run within the app sandbox and do not have unrestricted access to your Mac.
