Wordpress is the CMS platform of my choice. I’m using it for all my customers and my project. I cannot say that is 100% perfect. But until it is for free, it make sense to use it. So here some thoughts about wordpress tuning that might be useful.
Some of my clients have mobile version of website. With one of them I found terrible issue – they got lot’s of duplicated content because of incorrect canonical tags. So for instance yahoo.com and m.yahoo.com, it obvious that that the content will be the same but the design for m.yahoo.com will be optimized for mobile platforms. It’s nothing wrong in term of IT, but it’s suicide for SEO approach. Continue reading
Here is small advice for those who uses buddy press plugin for WordPress. This is awesome plugin, but if your server is heavy loaded you can notice that your MySQL performance can heavily drop if you are using buddypress for a long time. I was wondering why it’s happening. I tried all possible solutions from increasing the power of MySQL server, like multi-threaded expensive Xeon CPUs, SSD disk, RAM disk later on, but the problem of various testers and performance checkers points me to DB problems issue. Not so long time ago I’ve completely disappointed with All in One SEO Pack plugin which I usually use for SEO purpose. Previously it has many feature which were easy executable by adding another plugins of the top of All in One SEO Pack, but with each new version they transferred slowly into professional version, making my existing All in One SEO Pack nonfunctional after it’s upgrade or upgrade other plugins.
